About tour

Day 1

Kyz-Art Pass to Son-Kul Jailoo (Horse Trekking ~5–6 hrs)(250 km drive)

Your adventure begins at Kyz-Art Pass (2,664 m), the traditional gateway to Son-Kul. After meeting your local horsemen and being introduced to your horses, the trek starts along an ancient nomadic route used for centuries by shepherds moving their livestock to summer pastures.

The trail gradually ascends through wide alpine valleys, rolling hills, and high mountain meadows filled with wildflowers (seasonal). Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the Moldo-Too mountain range, spot grazing herds of horses, sheep, and yaks, and experience the deep silence of the highlands.
By afternoon, you reach the vast Son-Kul jailoo (summer pasture), where the immense turquoise lake slowly appears on the horizon at 3,016 m above sea level. After arriving at the yurt camp, you can rest, explore the lakeshore, or simply enjoy the endless open space.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kyrgyz dinner inside a cozy yurt, learn about nomadic life, and watch the sunset over the lake. Overnight in a traditional felt yurt, warmed by hospitality and mountain air.

Day 2

Son-Kul Lake Exploration & Return Trek (Horse Trekking ~4–5 hrs)(250 km drive)

Wake up to a peaceful morning by Son-Kul Lake, often accompanied by grazing horses and changing colors of the sky reflected in the water. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed ride along the lakeshore, visiting nearby shepherd families and observing daily nomadic life — milking mares, making kumis, and tending livestock.

The return trek follows a scenic route back toward Kyz-Art, offering new perspectives of the high plateau and surrounding mountains. There are several stops for photos, rest, and lunch in nature.
By late afternoon, the trek concludes at Kyz-Art Pass, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through one of Kyrgyzstan’s most iconic landscapes.
